Where in the Bay Area do you work? What is the process for obtaining your services? Once we sign a contract, how long will it be before we can get started? Are you licensed and insured? What are the warranties on my work? How long will our project take to complete? If we select Gentry as our contractor, how does the billing system work? We are on a budget and may not be able to do everything all at once, do you ever work in phases? Do you offer landscape maintenance services? Where in the Bay Area do you work? Most of our work is in San Fransisco and the Peninsula, but we work as far north as Novato and as far south as Mountain View, as well as with select clients in the East Bay and South Bay. What is the process for obtaining your services? The majority of our clients are referrals from former clients or architects and landscape architects with whom we have established working relationships. We recommend that you have a design first before contacting us. We are handling only a few select clients for design ourselves anymore, so we refer most people to landscape architects that we recommend (see links). Realizing that you may very well already have your own design, we are happy to work with any designs that you may have. Once you have a design, we suggest that we meet to discuss your expectations and options. We will take your design and break it down into an itemized proposal, whereupon we review the proposed items, cost, etc... and work out things with you so that we end up with a contract that falls within your budgetary needs. Once we sign a contract, how long will it be before we can get started? We work on a first come first served basis. We will not schedule your work until the signed contract and deposit are recieved. You will know your scheduled work dates prior to signing the contract. Are you licensed and insured? Yes, we have our C-27 California State Landscape Contractors license and carry all of the necessary liability and workers compensation insurance. Please note, that if you are dealing with contractors that are not licensed, then you need to realize they are not insured. No insurance company in the state of California will insure an unlicensed contractor. What are the warranties on my work? We believe that we have some of the best work warranties in the business. We warranty all installed plant material for a year from the date of installation and we warranty all mechanical systems and hardscape work for three years from the date of installation. How long will our project take to complete? The length of the project is determined by the scope of the work, access to the construction area, and availability of materials for your project. We will provide you with a work schedule and completion date that is as accurate as possible. It is not in our best interest to delay projects, so we put forth our best effort into completing your project in a timely manner. If we select Gentry as our contractor, how does the billing system work? For projects taking more than one week to complete a weekly invoice will be generated for the percentage of work completed and materials purchased. Payment will be due upon receipt of invoice. The remaining/total balance will be due upon completion and acceptance of the completed project by the homeowners. We are on a budget and may not be able to do everything all at once, do you ever work in phases? Of course. We have many clients that do a little bit of work every year, eventually ending up with their completed garden. All of our proposals are itemized, giving our clients the ability to pick and choose what they would like to have performed now or at a later date. Barring any changes in the prices of material or labor, prices will remain the same for later phases. Do you offer landscape maintenance services? Unfortunately, at this time we don't offer a maintenance service. We will be glad to meet with your current maintenance person to give them some proper care instructions or we can refer you to some contractors that do offer that service. Additionally, we try to schedule 1 or 2 visits a year to inspect our installed gardens and make sure things are progressing as needed.
